Climbing out of Addiction and Depression

Imagine for a moment that you’re skipping through a mountain meadow; the sun shining on your beaming face; a gentle breeze blows on your cheeks so that you are not too hot; not too cold. Birds are chirping; and the murmur of a nearby stream provides the perfect aural backdrop to a perfect moment of a perfect day…

Then…
BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!

That would be your alarm clock, wakening you to your actual reality…
And if you’re like most of us; that reality is quite different…

Most of us are overwhelmed with everyday life, with an almost endless list of To-Do’s and responsibilities; with people, posts and problems vying for that rarest of commodities; our attention.

It’s little wonder that so many of us struggle to cope, and often end up falling into what I call the pit of depression. You don’t need me to tell you that the statistics available paint a more that disturbing picture of the state of our mental health, but I will anyway. 1 in 5 Canadians will at some point in their lives find themselves in a mental health crisis, at an annual cost to our economy of; wait for it: 50 Billion dollars…

That’s a problem with a capital “P”, mainly because the numbers are still rising. Yes, the problem is getting bigger…

What does this mean for you?
It could mean a number of things.
You yourself may be in crisis right now.
If not you, perhaps someone close to you is struggling (1 in 5 remember. Most of us know at least 5 people…).
You might be acutely aware of the $ cost because of the way your business or organization is affected when your people are affected…
You might be looking for resources or information that can help; for something that gives you hope that there’s light at the end of the tunnel.

If that’s you (or someone you know), then I’d like to introduce you to my partner Margo Talbot.

I might be an expert on overcoming physical adversity, but Margo is an absolute master at navigating the much more challenging terrain of our inner world; what she calls our “psychic landscape”.

Last month Margo was invited to share her story and insight on “Climbing out of Addiction and Depression” with the audience at TEDx Canmore.

I’m excited to share her presentation with you here in the hope that it helps you or someone you love.

Enjoy.
