Life’s easier when you make it easy

You can hear a pin drop in every audience I’m in front of when I tell them that living life with no legs is not a big deal…

That it’s actually not even that hard….

It is literally, a show stopper.

I go on to talk about perception, that it’s about how we see our situation that makes all the difference. But here’s something I’ve been adding recently, and I felt like it’s an important point to make here.

Living life without legs is easy because I make it easy.

It’s easy because I set myself up for success.

As soon as I drop the ball; as soon as I stop training; as soon as I stop doing the things I know I need to do to stay on top of a life without legs; life gets hard pretty darn quick.

  • It gets hard to get in and out of the car or my chair.

  • It gets hard to push a suitcase out in front with one hand.

  • It gets hard to simply wheel uphill.

Life, in general, just gets hard.

So I do what it takes to make it easy.

  • I workout in the gym.

  • I cross country ski in the winter.

  • I hand cycle in the summer.

  • I watch what I eat.

When I’m on top of these things; life just flows.

So that’s me.
What about you?

Is there something you’re not doing (or doing) that is making life harder than it needs to be?

Honestly man, I hear about and use all kinds of success habits that I believe in. But more than anything, when I rise above booze and lust, Life feels relatively effortless And worry-free

How is it that you rise above though? Isn’t it by replacing one habit with another?

My life has always improved in direct proportion to my strength & discipline in avoiding (excessive) booze & sex.I like the Experiment the Buddha encouraged to try abstinence for a week and see how I feel. He asserted that being dominated by booze and lust are the 2 primary causes of our suffering on the way toward achieving our goals… Kind of parallel to Napoleon Hill’s secret of sex transmutation in Think and Grow Rich. Did I answer your question Or is that too vague?

I get it. I wouldn’t have thought a week would be enough; many say it takes a month to form a new habit, but if you can do it in a week that’s great.

Not making a new habit in a week but feeling the difference As a result of altering behavior in a week

Awesome thought for the day. It’s all about choice and not feeling sorry for yourself. I will do better today. Thanks for the reminder.

Everyday I make an effort at moving my body as much as possible. My joints thank me for it! Being over 60 my body has some arthritis and moving makes it feel better. Sitting is the “new smoking” and it is not good for the body to be still for so long.

Me too, and it doesn’t have to be anything crazy; just enough to get the blood flowing and to stretch you in some way.

Warren, as always — concise, to-the-point, and spot-on. The way I make life easier is that I *decide* that there are no problems. Starting from that as a mental position changes everything. Keep writing, my friend. But more importantly, keep livin’ big. Cheers from Denver! Brigette

Thanks Brigette, I love that. Simple. Just “decide”  People often say to me “It can’t be that simple”, but it is. It’s not really magic; we just make different decisions when we “see” differently. Thanks again for stopping by

If you think you can or you think you can’t, you’re right. I’ve lived with chronic pain for the last 13 years from an injury. It’s tough to keep being active at times, but you’re proof it’s mind over matter. Thanks!

Something I have been working on lately is to not allow negative people to influence me. I understand we all have “bad days” but I find that if I can be upbeat and positive, I can usually help others to do six if they continues to be negative and suck the “positive” out of every conversation, I purge them from my life. Hasn’t been easy with sone long time friends but once I make the decision my life becomes more fulfilling.
